Safety
Safeguarding
Our approach to helping people stay safe, respected and in control.
Our commitment
Northern Fells Companions aims to provide companionship and practical support in a way that respects each person's dignity, choices, privacy and independence. Abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination and harassment are not acceptable.
Our service boundary
We currently provide companionship and non-regulated practical support. We do not provide personal care such as washing, dressing, toileting or hands-on assistance with eating. If a person's needs are outside our service, we will explain this and, where appropriate, suggest that they seek suitable regulated or professional support.
Safer working
People working with clients are expected to follow clear boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding procedures. Recruitment may include identity, right-to-work, reference and appropriate DBS checks, together with induction and safeguarding guidance before unsupervised work is allocated.
If we are worried about someone
If we have a reasonable concern that a person may be at risk of abuse, neglect or serious harm, we will take the concern seriously, record relevant facts and seek appropriate help. Where necessary, information may be shared with emergency services, the local authority safeguarding service or another appropriate body to protect someone from harm.
Report a concern
For a non-emergency safeguarding concern involving Northern Fells Companions, email hello@northernfellscompanions.uk. If someone is in immediate danger or a crime is in progress, contact the emergency services.
